CoV: care misery in kindergartens – salzburg.ORF.at
politics
In the lockdown, kindergartens and crèches in Salzburg are almost half full. There are no regular CoV tests, although the incidence in five-year-old children is over 800. Groups must be blocked from two positive CoV cases.
How high the number of infections actually is in the children’s groups is unknown because there are no tests there. Data protection prohibits families from having to submit notifications. Cases were also tested where positive parents brought children into the groups anyway, which means there is a risk of further infections.
Kindergartens do not want to decide on closings
For a few days now – just like in school classes – in kindergarten groups of two or more, the whole group can be closed. However, the kindergartens do not want to decide that themselves. Eva Goetz, director of the Koko Association, said: “That is a requirement of us that there is a contact person about a health authority who then decides whether it will be closed or not. So far it hasn’t. From my point of view, it’s a bit late for people to think about it. It’s December now and we’re sure that the wave will reach us again in autumn. “
Group closings required by the authorities
In mid-November, the number of cases had increased so quickly that contract tracing with separation notices no longer worked. There is no authority like in the school sector for the many private sponsors of children’s groups. Family councilor Andrea Klambauer from NEOS said: “I have been calling for this for a few weeks. In some districts it also works with the separation notices – but it should work for the entire state. Either with separation notices or with official group closings. “
Three-year-old: incidence at 270
In Salzburg there are 1,300 groups in kindergartens and crèches. The children should have social contact with others, the families need child care, but everyone must be protected from infections. The kindergartens depend on the cooperation with the families.
Stefanie Neulinger, Deputy Head of Child Daycare Koko: “On the one hand, it is important to support the parents. Because they cannot look after the children at home in the home office in the long term. On the other hand, there is also the concern of the educators who naturally want to avoid the infection and have concern for themselves. Finding a balance here is difficult. “
