The EU is preparing sanctions against the head of the PMC.
European Union ambassadors plan to impose sanctions against the head of the private military company Wagner Dmitry Utkin and four more people associated with the PMC. To do this, they will meet in a meeting on Wednesday 8 December.
As reported Radio Liberty, we are talking about a global sanctions regime for human rights violations. They include a visa ban and asset freeze and interruption in relation to:
– a former officer of the Russian special forces, the head of a PMC Dmitry Utkin;
– one of the contractors of a military company in Syria Stanislava Dichko;
– an accomplice in the actions of the Wagnerites in the CAR Valeria Zakharova;
– Russians Andrey Troshev and Andrey Bogatov – members of PMC Wagner associated with Syria.
Also, the corresponding restrictions will be imposed on companies that have won contracts for energy services for the Syrian authorities – “Mercury”, “Velada” and “Euro Policy”.
It is expected that they will be finally approved at the repeated ministerial congress in Brussels on 13 December.
New sanctions were introduced in 2011 in response to the crackdown on the Syrian civilian population, currently on the list of 287 people and 70 companies. They are mainly associated with the Syrian authorities and the regime Bashar al-Assad…
Earlier, the foreign ministers of the EU countries discussed the issue of imposing against members of PMC Wagner. Then the officials agreed to draw up a list of persons who may fall under them.
In addition, the sanctions may be related to the restrictions that are being prepared due to the migrant crisis on the borders of Belarus and the EU. For example, InformNapalm found out that the Syrian airline Cham Wings Airlines carried migrants from Iraq and Syria to Belarus. It was this company, according to the volunteers, who helped the mercenaries from Wagner to get to Syria.
At the end of November, the European Parliament approved a resolution on human rights violations by mercenaries of the Russian PMC Wagner. The responsibility for the crimes lies with the Russian Federation. Experts expressed their conviction that the European Union should sanction this paramilitary organization of the Russian Federation.
