Toulouse. A fire breaks out in a church, a minor in custody
At the end of last week, a fire broke out in the Church of Fronton shortly before it closed.
An altar in a chapel “begins to catch fire” as a parishioner enters the church. Its “rapid reaction” prevents the fire from spreading. An employee of the town hall and the firefighters finish securing the premises quickly.
This incident is causing great local concern and the Fronton gendarmerie is investigating. In 24 hours, the gendarmes succeeded in proving that it was not a question of a simple incident but well of a starting of fire stung by the action of a person.
An individual is very quickly identified thanks to an effective investigation work with witnesses and exploitation of video protection images of the municipality.
This person is “placed in police custody” and presented to the “public prosecutor’s office for involuntary degradation” of the property of others by fire due “to the deliberate violation of an obligation of safety or prudence”, indicated the gendarmerie of Haute – Garonne.
“An educational follow-up is pronounced against this minor individual who will be tried in February for these facts”, specify the military.
