OX2 files permit application for Galatea-Galene offshore wind project in Sweden
December 6 (Renewables Now) – The Swedish renewable energy developer OX2 AB (STO: OX2) has submitted a permit application for the offshore wind farm Galatea-Galene in Swedish waters with a potential capacity of 1.7 GW.
The company said today that they are seeking permission from the government to install wind turbines, transformer stations and measuring masts in the Swedish economic zone outside Falkenberg and Varberg.
The application submission according to the law on Sweden’s exclusive economic zone comes after the developer in October applied for a separate Natura 2000 permit for the offshore wind farm.
The proposal covers two sub-areas – Galatea, which is located about 25 km (15.5 miles) outside Falkenberg, and Galene about 25 km outside Varberg, and requires the installation of up to 101 wind turbines up to 340 meters (1,115 feet). ) high. The wind farm is expected to generate approximately 6 TWh-7 TWh per year.
“We have now reached the next phase and look forward to the next step,” says Hillevi Priscar, Country Manager for OX2 in Sweden. “Galatea-Galene would supply a significant amount of new Swedish renewable electricity to southern Sweden. The project is important for industry, business, households and the labor market. And it will also contribute to achieving Sweden’s ambitious environmental goals “, Priscar added.
