Champions League: Salzburg hopes to play Okafor against Sevilla – football
Salzburg – Monday, December 6th, 2021, 5:16 p.m.
Red Bull Salzburg is allowed to play in the all-important Champions League group game on Wednesday (9:00 p.m. / live ServusTV, in the ServusTV LIVE stream or in LIVE ticker with in-match clips) hope for the return of Noah Okafor against Sevilla FC.
The Swiss international striker was recently absent for two weeks due to the consequences of a hardened muscle in his thigh. The 21-year-old is doing most of the training on Monday. According to the club, you have to wait for the reaction to the load.
Okafor had already been very optimistic before the dress rehearsal on Saturday in the Bundesliga against Hartberg (2: 1), but ultimately also missed this game. Should the offensive man fail against Sevilla as well, the 18-year-old Slovenian Benjamin Sesko would most likely start two weeks ago in the Champions League in Lille (0-1) at the side of Karim Adeyemi. The center-back duo should be Jerome Onguene and Oumar Solet.
“We have a big and extremely important game ahead of us,” said Onguene. “With one point we can do something really extraordinary.” Then Salzburg would be the first Austrian club in the Champions League round of 16. The pressure is “significantly greater” for Seville, said the 23-year-old Onguene. The Andalusians started as group favorites. “Now they need a win against us in order not to be eliminated from the European Cup. It’s not an easy game for them either.
