Security: from Giunta Genova ok to 250 new cameras – Liguria

(ANSA) – GENOA, 04 DEC – Over 250 cameras in Genoa will implement the video surveillance network in the city, covering portions of the municipal area in a capillary manner. The council of Genoa approved, on the proposal of the councilor for public works Pietro Piciocchi and the councilor for security Giorgio Viale, two resolutions that an increase in video surveillance systems through participation in a tender by the Ministry of the Interior, which allocates security in urban centers, and through own funds.
The ‘Periferie Security’ project, with which Palazzo Tursi will participate in the tender for the allocation of ministerial funds, is worth a total of 1 million and 420 thousand euros and provides, in addition to the installation of 67 cameras, also the creation of a connection fiber optic of the entire network of existing systems directly to the operations center of the Local Police. Part of the works will be co-financed by the Municipality, for the sum of 468 thousand euros (33% of the total amount).
The other approved resolution provides for the allocation of 600 thousand euros, the municipal budget, for the construction of almost 200 cameras that will be positioned in the new city areas towards the four ridges Ponente – Levante – Val Polcevera – Val Bisagno. (HANDLE).
