He dominates in majesty the Save valley, between L’Isle-Jourdain and Samatan, west of Toulouse. Listed as a historic monument, the Château de Caumont is owned by Ghislain de Castelbajac, and his wife Mathilde, in the small town of Cazaux-Savès (Gers).
“Sleeping Beauty Castle on the banks of the Save”
Castle whose silhouette has earned it many nicknames – “Loire castle in Gascony”, or “Sleeping Beauty castle on the banks of the Save” – the castle of Caumont is built in the footsteps of a first fortification from the 12th century. Under the leadership of Pierre de Nogaret, the current castle was built between 1525 and 1535.
A piece of Toulouse in the Gers
Ghislain de Castelbajac received from the family castle in 2014, upon the death of his parents. And settled there permanently with his family in 2018, after leaving Paris and the job he held in the capital.
Since then, the property designed by Nicolas Bachelier, the architect behind the Hôtel d’Assezat in Toulouse, has experienced a second lease of life.
Caumont, this real little architectural piece of Toulouse in the countryside, is even experiencing a great revival.

A renovated castle
The Château de Caumont has become a place to visit, to appreciate all year round.
