HBO Portugal debuts Odisseia, with Bruno Nogueira
The Portuguese catalog of HBO Portugal continues to grow. With several films opening this month, there is also space for “Odisseia”, a Portuguese series.
A series of Portuguese, Indian and broadcast by RTP, “Odisseia” is the latest bet by HBO Portugal to reinforce the catalog of Portuguese content. with the motto Being a man is a destiny and not a fate, “Odyssey” debuts in streaming platform on December 6th and is starring Bruno Nogueira and Gonçalo Waddington.
Told in two different intersecting narratives, the series takes us through Portugal from one side to the other on a journey between the tragic and the comic, with Bruno Nogueira and Gonçalo Waddington behind the wheel of the ‘Calipso’ motorhome.
In the first narrative, we have Bruno Nogueira and Gonçalo Waddington (playing themselves), two friends who set off on a journey through Portugal in a motorhome. Both feel the need to get away from their professional and family lives and think of a solution to their personal dramas.
In the second narrative, told as a fictional making-of, there are the screenwriters of the Odisseia series itself: Bruno Nogueira, Gonçalo Waddington and a third element, Tiago Guedes, the director.
Amidst absurd adventures and unlikely friendships, the heroes of the story have direct interference from the three authors during the trip of the two friends of the first narrative; around here there are choices of who should appear in the story, as Nuno Lopes, Rita Blanco, Manuel João Vieira or the singer Camané, and even changes in the protagonists’ desires and motivations.
Composed of eight episodes, “Odisseia” is a Take It Easy production, having debuted on Portuguese television in 2013.
