San Marino: last night two young 18-year-old boyfriends lost their lives following a tragic road accident along the Sottomontana. The couple died instantly and the rescue intervention was useless. The causes of the accident are still under investigation.
Yesterday evening, Saturday 4th December, two young 18-year-old boyfriends lost their lives in a tragic car accident in San Marino, along the Sottomontana in the direction of Murata.
The accident occurred shortly after 22.00 and the young couple died of a head-on collision after losing control of the car. The causes of the accident are still under investigation.
Road accident in San Marino: the causes of the accident are still unknown
Elly Mattiuzzi and Daniele Volanti: these are the names of the two young people from Rimini who died instantly. The couple was aboard one Fiat 500, with Italian registration, when the vehicle began to skid along the straight road.
The car ran into a wall first and then into the opposite lane colliding head-on with a Volkswagen Golf. Finally, a BMW was also involved in the accident.
The rescuers, once they reached the scene of the accident, were able to limit themselves to ascertaining the death of Elly and Daniele. As for the driver who was in the other car involved in the accident, the driver was injured following the collision but, fortunately, he is not in serious condition and is currently in hospital. The outbreak of the front and side airbags helped.
The civil police intervened for the findings: the reasons that led to the accident are still unknown. The video of the agents’ intervention was shared on the Corriere Romagna channel, showing the terrible conditions in which the cars were found.
