Zsolt Németh (Fidesz) discussed security policy, economic cooperation and political relations in Washington, DC, USA. On Saturday, Zsolt Németh emphasized to MTI that the United States is the most important international player in world politics, which is why continuous, high-level regulation is key for Hungary.
Security policy has a prominent role in the bilateral relations between the United States and Hungary, so the issue of stability in the Western Balkans was discussed.
The United States is very appreciative of Hungary’s involvement in the Balkans, especially as a Hungarian general took over command of KFOR in the autumn and Hungary increased its contingent in the region, he said. He added that it has also garnered serious recognition for that
Hungary also successfully evacuated many American citizens during the evacuation in Afghanistan.
Zsolt Németh in the negotiations Ukraine’s respect for NATO Hungary’s commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and therefore drew attention to the fact that respect for national minority rights, especially the acquired rights of the Hungarians of Transcarpathia, is a precondition for Hungary’s contribution.
He emphasized that Hungary was dissatisfied with Ukraine’s behavior in this regard, and that this had been made known to its American partners.
Explain that there are spectacular results in the field of economic cooperation: the United States is Hungary’s most important trading partner outside Europe, the second largest capital investor in Hungary in the last thirty years, and has contributed to maintaining more than a hundred thousand Hungarian jobs.
For this reason, it is in Hungary’s interest that American-Hungarian economic relations continue to develop and that the business environment be appropriate and predictable, he added, adding that the United States supports Hungarian economic policy support.
Zsolt Németh said that in connection with political relations, he drew attention to the fact that
Hungary strives for continuous and balanced relations with the administration.
It is also important that there is a very strong camp in America that treats the political issues of social policy in the same way as the Hungarian government, said the chairman of the committee said that the annual conference of the American Conservative Union in Budapest in the spring would be an excellent forum for for an exchange of views.
