The Hungarian women’s handball team made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Spain, beating the Czech Republic 32-29 in the second round of the group stage on Saturday in Liria.

The most successful player in the field with 11 goals out of 13 shots was Klujber Katrin, who was also chosen as the best of the match.
The national trio of the national team in Debrecen, the DVSC-Schäffler trio, Réka Bordás, Petra Vámos and Szimonetta Planéta played great. All three were protagonists of the victory. Tóvízi Petra had a small bench, but no play opportunity.
The Hungarians defeated Slovakia 35-29 on Thursday and will close the group against Germany on Monday from 8.30pm.
The top three finishers will advance to the semi-finals starting next Wednesday and take their results against the other two finishers with them. The Hungarian band will meet the Republic of Korea and Denmark in the semi-finals, as well as the DRC or Tunisia in Granollers, where they will surely take two points.

Szandra Szöllősi-Zácsik and Zsófia Szemerey from the 18-person Hungarian frame were left out. The team started the game with the knowledge that it would not get out, ensuring its advance.
The defense worked a little better than two days earlier, so the Hungarian advantage was already four goals in the 12th minute. The Czechs tried to drop by, success at first, but later became inaccurate. After their time, they switched to shots, which reduced the difference, and they still got a little stuck in the attack of the Hungarians.
The Czech national team equalized in human advantage, while federal captain Golovin Vladimir asked for time, but what he planned did not prove feasible because his team spent 1:45 minutes in a double human disadvantage in the hair in the first half. Petra Vámos also threw two, then one in the draw, and the Hungarians scored 17-15 during the break.
The Czechs started the second act with a great defense, but they couldn’t equalize, and in the 39th minute they had to claim again at a four-goal disadvantage. Klujber Katrin already scored the ninth, defending with two useful thirds of the goal, scoring several times. At the end of a 6-1 series, the position was 24-18, during this period the defense of the Hungarians worked great, and Melinda Szikora with defenses. In the end, Golovin gave it to the substitutes, and although the last three goals were scored by the opponent, the Hungarian success was not in jeopardy.
The most successful player of the Czechs became Marketa Jerábková, the former left winger of Érd, with ten goals from 15 shots. Melinda Szikora closed with nine defenses.
In the 17th match between the two teams, the 16th Hungarian victory was achieved with a Czech success.
In the semi-finals, the fights will continue in four groups of six, from where the first two will be placed in the quarterfinals. In the group round, the last four winners will continue to play in the lower house playoffs for the President’s Cup.
