Toulouse. The Soclo luxury house-hotel has just opened
It is a completely innovative concept which opened a month ago in an 18th century Toulouse residence, rue Valade, opposite the law school, “La Maison Soclo”. After major works, started in 2017, it is a “5 star” hotel with 16 rooms that has emerged.
At the head of this luxury structure, Chloé Casalta led the adventure from start to finish. “In fact, everything had to be destroyed and everything redone, leaving only the facade which was also restored, and by raising one floor we were able to gain a few rooms to make the project a success,” she explains.
Just in her forties, she began studying pharmacy before embarking on the hotel business, first in the Var where the family owns and manages two charming hotels then in Toulouse, a city she had known and appreciated. when she was a student.
With his companion, Nicolas, they cleared all the obstacles: barely bought, the house was squatted for a year, then the delays in authorizations for major works, to end with the consequences of the Covid on the supply of equipment. Finally, it is a very nice service that is offered a high-end ally and authenticity with breathtaking views of the city from the superior rooms. There are also two small, very cozy lounges and a large garden with swimming pool. But the Maison is not just a hotel and wants to attract a local clientele, as Nicolas likes to stress. “We offer breakfasts, brunches for lunch and a bar for the start of the evenings”. The proximity of law school and word of mouth are already promising for a good start since the opening. And there is no shortage of projects with the upcoming availability of a small meeting room in the basement and the subsequent possibility of musical evenings and artists’ exhibitions, a nod to the previous owner who was the daughter of Marc Saint-Saëns, whose transfer of the fresco by Claudius Régaud, recently demolished, to the Oncopole will soon be inaugurated.
