Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week 2021 starts on Monday
The 14th edition of Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week (SINMW) with a focus on themes such as gender, innovation and sustainability begins on Monday, according to the organizers.
The annual event, which is organized by the Swedish Embassy, the Swedish Consulate General in Mumbai and other Team Sweden actors including Swedish companies operating in India, will be held practically due to the ongoing pandemic.
This is the second year in a row that the event takes place online.
” We are pleased to present the 14th edition of Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week, one of the embassy’s true flagship events. It pays tribute to Alfred Nobel and his deep legacy in the fields of science, research, innovation and art. Here in India, it is a reminder of Sweden’s and Swedish companies’ long-term commitment, our sponsors, says the Swedish Ambassador to India Klas Molin in a statement.
Highlights of the event include innovation lecture series on sustainable development, the Nobel Prize Teachers’ Meeting, panel discussions and awards for the winners of “She STEM” – a joint initiative between the Swedish Embassy in India and the Atal Innovation Mission that emphasizes the importance of STEM education (Science. Technology. Engineering. Mathematics) for young girls and women.
For 2021, ‘She STEM’ was launched with an Instagram Reels challenge for students in the age group 13-17. They were asked to make Instagram Reels about how to make this world a better place to live in as a STEM leader.
” A jury will select the winners. The award ceremony will take place together with a panel discussion among leading female voices on leading STEM and sustainability on December 6 at 14:30 “, it is stated in the statement.
As part of SINMW, 2021, the Swedish Consulate General, Mumbai will also organize a “Nobel Prize Teacher Summit” on December 7 in collaboration with a local partner, Idobro Impact Solutions.
” Our countries have very strong bilateral ties in so many sectors, with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, which together with gender equality are the underlying themes for this year’s Nobel Memorial Week. With covid protocols in mind, we have tried to cure a small number of secure events for this year. When we look forward to 2022, we hope to be able to come back with at least one hybrid Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week! ” Said Ambassador Molin.
The event ends on December 15.
