Sweden and Finland will play in the WFC 2021 final for women
Finland and Sweden will play in the final of the Women’s World Cup in floorball in 2021. Switzerland and the Czech Republic will fight for the bronze.
The hosts entertained the audience at IFU Arena, when they met Switzerland in the first semifinal. Moa Gustafsson scored the first goal after 10 minutes had been played and Sweden had a 4-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Sweden continued to score in the second period and with the tenth goal against Switzerland, Wilma Johansson ended his hat trick in the match. In the last period, Switzerland succeeded once but that did not bring them closer to the WFC final. Finally, the scoreboard showed 14-1 for the hosts and Sweden will play for their 8th straight gold medal tomorrow.
The second semifinal was very tight from the start. Oona Kauppi scored the first goal shortly after 54 seconds had passed but Karolina Sucha leveled the match at 1:12. The Czech Republic was in a 3-2 lead before the first break though Veera Kauppi leveled in the second period. At the beginning of the third period, My Kippilä took Finland to a 4-3 lead but Michaela Mlejnkova leveled once again. Finland’s 5-4 goal from Oona Kauppi was the semi-final goal and also the winning goal. The Czech Republic tried to get even to the last minute but did not succeed.
Poland and Slovakia play for 5th place in the first match tomorrow. Poland was better two years ago in Neuchatel and finished 5th. Denmark and Norway play for 7th place tomorrow when Denmark lost 4-7 against Poland and Slovakia beat Norway 5-4.
