The German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt awarded the best designs in a computer game competition on the future of the city of Frankfurt on Saturday. More than 600 suggestions were submitted by children and young people about what Hesse’s largest city could look like in 2099.
A total of around 11,000 plots of land were built on a digital play area for the game “Minecraft”. According to DAM, aspects such as mobility, working and living, digitization and the urban climate were taken up and implemented in the urban planning visions.
“The aim of the project was to playfully focus on future issues of architecture,” the museum announced. The average age of the participants was 14 years.
In the computer game “Minecraft”, players can create their own digital world by building houses and settlements. The game is one of the most successful games worldwide.
