In a market in which Renault has “gone out”, exchanging sales volume for greater profitability (in line with the guidelines defined by the group’s CEO, Luca de Meo), and the brands in the SIVA universe continue without taking off in sales (two years after a Porsche Holding Salzburg took control with the aim of selling 30,000 cars/year), a Peugeot adds and goes.
In November, the French brand had commercial results that allowed it to strengthen its accumulated accounts for the year, standing out as sales champion in Portugal in passenger cars and also in the group of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
In 11 months, the Portuguese car market only entered 2.9%, which did not prevent Peugeot from registering a further 5% of registrations compared to the same period of 2020. In that year, by this time, the lion brand had 19,453 units are traded in our country, a figure that rose to 20,428 vehicles, from January to November 2021.
The brand takes the opportunity to highlight that the good results are explained, above all, through the increase in sales of passenger cars, whose volume rose 8.6% compared to 2020. And this even without the “effect” 308, as the new generation of the saloon and van will only arrive next year. For now, the stars of sales are 2008 (5845 units), followed by 208 (4282) and 3008 (2343). This is true for passenger cars, as the most sought after model in commercial vehicles (3798 units).
These commercial results give the French manufacturer a share of 12.8% of the Portuguese market in the year. In addition to leading the group of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, Peugeot also dominates alone, with a share of 11.8% and 18.3%, respectively.
The SUV continues to dominate demand, representing 8896 new Peugeot records in the first 11 months of 2021. The battery electric (BEV) stands out, whose demand surpassed a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Peugeot sold chapters 1371 BEV and 985 PHEV, to give the sub-segments a share of 11.9% and 6.9%, respectively.
