Artists, athletes and government and business leaders gathered to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities
To emphasize the importance of not leaving anyone behind, Better World Fund organized an event to lift people with determination at the Swedish pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai to draw attention to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Friday.
The event featured lectures by government and business leaders, artists and athletes, to show the success of people with determination and to show how individuals and organizations can work together to achieve inclusion.
The speakers highlight specific measures, platforms and initiatives for people with disabilities.
The event was organized in collaboration with Dubai Cares, Islamic Affairs and with the UAE’s Ministry of Culture and Youth as a strategic partner.
Dr Tariq Al Gurg, CEO and Vice President of Dubai Cares, spoke Khaleej Times that children with determination also have dreams and ambitions, just like everyone else.
“They need high quality education to develop their skills and realize their full potential. Therefore, they should be included and given priority in every agenda. Awareness, opinion formation and action are crucial to ensure that children with determination can secure their rightful place in our communities and contribute their role as equal participants “, he said.
