Conservationists want to take a closer look at the wind zones in Salzburg
The State Environmental Prosecutor criticizes the fact that there were no surveys on individual bird species in the potential project areas. The wind power lobby looks positive to the planned wind zones. But it needs the backing of state politics to get going.
The subject of wind energy has so far been a story of failure in Salzburg. All attempts to build power plants came to nothing. The closest thing to a realization is the project at Windsfeld in Flachau. The operators there hope to be able to start construction in the next three years.
Regional planning councilor Josef Schwaiger (ÖVP) sent the draft of the new regional development program (LEP) for assessment this week. It defined eleven priority zones in which faster procedures should be possible.
