among the Eurovision candidates also the Nanowar of Steel

Sugar Mizzy December 4, 2021

The mega international selection of San Marino will start shortly “Una Voce per San Marino” to select your representative for Eurovision 2022 in Turin.

It is not the first time that San Marino has relied on a selection: in 2018 RTV had opted for “1in360”, a talent that had seen the pair formed by the Maltese win Jessika and from the German Jenifer Brening with the song “Who we are”, after three evenings in which 11 participants competed, nationality constraint, chosen from 1050 candidates. The song at Eurovision, however, failed to reach the final.

A total of 84 names will take part at this first part of the hearings of Una Voce per San Marino in the “Emerging Artists” category, which will be held between 13 and 15 December at the Titano Theater, in the capital of the microstate.

The second casting round will be held from 5 to 11 January 2022. On these dates the remaining emerging artists will take part in the auditions to find out who could be the successor of Senhit And Flo Rida.

Here is the list of participants, among whom there are several San Marino citizens, who, as already explained in the conference in September they will be real wildcard characters, and who will compete in a separate semifinal to guarantee at least three San Marino players in the final.

The road to Eurovision 2022

In February 2022, a series of semi-finals including a repechage will decide the nine emerging finalists who will compete in the final of 19 February 2022 at New Theater from customs. In addition to the nine emerging ones, there will be nine other best-known names in European music (we remind you that the selections are open to all nationalities), selected by the sponsor Media Evolution SRL.

Among these 18 finalists, a jury of experts will decide the winner, thus designating the representative of San Marino at Eurovision 2022.

However some, in case of no victory, will not be left to dry mouth emerging. Prizes of 7,000 euros for first place, 2000 euros for second and 1000 euros for third place are foreseen for the first three emerging ones.

San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest

San Marino made its Eurovision debut in 2008 with “Complice” dei My God, the first of the two songs in Italian sent during the review, sadly closing in last place in the semifinal.

He will reach the final only in 2014 on his third attempt at Valentina Monetta, who will finish in 24th place in the final with “Maybe”.

In 2021 he hits the final for the second consecutive time thanks to Senhit And Flo Rida with “Adrenalina”, which however will only stop in 22nd place with 50 points (three of which from Italian televoting).

To date, the best result remains the one obtained in 2019 with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”, 19th in Tel Aviv with 77 points.
