Three years after the death of Zineb Redouane as a result of a tear gas grenade fired in the face during a demonstration, while the victim was at the window of his home, the demonstration in his tribute to the departure from the Old Port in Marseille was banned by the prefecture.
The commemoration will therefore only be done by a gathering at the Old Port of Marseille at 4 p.m. this Saturday, December 4, the prefecture having again shaken the famous scarecrow of ” disturbance of public order “. While this case of police violence was closed a month ago by Frédéric Veaux, the director general of the national police, an appeal was launched by those close to Zineb for a three-day weekend in tribute to the octogenarian and for denouncing police impunity. Thursday, a first gathering took place rue des Feuillants where the victim lived. It is in this street of the Noailles district that in 2018, two buildings collapsed. There will therefore be no demonstration to end these three days in memory of Zineb Redouane and in commemoration of the victims of police violence.
Recall that the march carried out two years ago was very strongly repressed: CRS massively gassed the demonstrators and charged with the elderly.
This ban on lafecture is a new scandal which follows all the judicial masquerade that has surrounded this affair. Indeed the fallacious official autopsy summons the medical history of Zineb Redouane. As we had reported, the public prosecutor had dared to pronounce that the death of Zineb would be due to a ” operative shock “Adding that” a causal relationship cannot be established between the injury and the death “. Overwhelming remarks relayed by Castaner, to cover up a case of police violence which once again will have stolen a life.
Following requests from relatives of Zineb Redouane, after the repatriation of his body to Algeria, the public prosecutor of Algiers requested a preliminary investigation and demanded a new autopsy to clarify the causes of his death. The counter-autopsy very clearly attributes it to a head trauma from the grenade fire. In addition, the ballistic expertise which exonerated the CRS is today called into question by Disclose and Forensic Architecture which created a 3D model of the scene proving that the shot was a tense shot in the direction of homes, chosen… formally prohibited.
Faced with this legal scandal which took place with complete impunity and in total silence, we must organize ourselves to fight against police violence. Faced with a legal system that protects the ruling classes and the police, the response is in the streets. To cry out again and again for justice for Zineb, Zyed, Bouna, Adama, Babacar and all those who died under the assaults of the police!
So the meeting is given at 4 p.m., in Marseille on December 4, to pay tribute to Zineb: the repression will not stop us.
