Russia donated another $ 1 billion to Syria, Venezuela and Cuba | 03.12.21
Russia continues to Soviet multimillion-dollar injections and write-offs of foreign debt for friendly regimes abroad.
At the end of 2020, despite the pandemic, the government allocated $ 962.9 million to aid countries in need.
This is slightly below the indicators of 2015-19, when 1 billion dollars a year was exceeded, but twice the level of 2010-13, follows from calculations of IPEI RANEPA… The largest recipients of Russian financial assistance through bilateral mechanisms are Armenia, Venezuela, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, North Korea, Syria and Tajikistan.
In addition, for the first time, Russian money went to Lebanon, Rwanda and Cape Verde, which Moscow supported in connection with the pandemic.
Almost half of all aid came in the form of debt relief from foreign countries totaling $ 424.9 million, of which the largest debt was forgiven to Cuba.
In total, under bilateral programs, Russia has helped needy countries worth $ 697 million. The remaining amount – $ 256.9 million – was allocated in the form of international assistance, mainly through UN institutions.
