The Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse becomes “National Opera in the region”
The Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot has awarded the label of “National Opera in the region” to the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, now the sixth French establishment to bear this title.
In October 2020, the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse expressed its wish to join the restricted circle of lyrical institutions labeled “National Opera in the region”. A year later, it’s a dream come true. While traveling to Toulouse, the Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot awarded the label to the Toulouse establishment, a label which not only allows to be better identified but also to recognize the work of the institution and to establish its cultural missions in the duration, as explained by the general administrator of the Capitole Claire Roserot de Melin to France Musique.
The Théâtre du Capitole thus joins the five other French establishments to bear this name, namely the Opéra national de Lyon, the Opéra national de Bordeaux, the Opéra national du Rhin, the Opéra Orchester national de Montpellier and the Opéra national Lorraine region. A restricted circle of establishments which constitute ” a national reference network for the enhancement and renewal of repertoires, shapes and aesthetics, explains in its press release the Ministry of Culture.
