“The new infections recede faster than expected, but the effects of the 2-G rule plus the subsequent lockdown are already noticeable. This positive development will, with a time lag, affect the hospitals; this is the situation, ”said Gernot Filipp, Head of State Statistics.
“Measures are bearing fruit”
“The measures taken in November contribute, we see a significant decrease in the number of new infections and, for the first time in a long time, a drop in the reproductive value below 1.”, says Gernot Filipp from the state statistics and adds: “We are observing a relaxation, the all-clear can but not yet to be spoken. And I would also like to make a personal note of responsibility in view of the situation in the hospitals: It is up to each and every one of us, Eigen has never been as important as it is now. “
R value below 1
For the first time in almost two months, the reproduction value has fallen below 1 and is now 0.93. 100 sick people are currently “only” infecting 93 healthy people, which has resulted in a decrease in the incidence. “On November 14th, the R value was 1.34, the previous maximum value in this fourth wave,” says Filipp.
48 intensive care patients in Salzburg’s hospitals
The number of occupied intensive care beds is still very high at 48, three people have also been transferred to an intensive care unit at the same time since yesterday. The average age is 63 years. The majority of these are unvaccinated people, the proportion of those who have been fully immunized is only 13 percent. A total of 249 people are in inpatient treatment. “The vaccination protects against a severe course of the disease, against hospital and, above all, against the intensive care unit. This is clearly demonstrated by the numbers, ”explains the head of the state statistics.
Salzburg in a comparison of the federal states
Until recently, Salzburg and Upper Austria were dying with the highest incidence by far, so both of them are no longer in the top group with a 7-day incidence of 1,070.4 (Salzburg) and 1068.3 (Upper Austria). Carinthia currently has an incidence of 1,453.7, Vorarlberg of 1254.6.
Fewer new infections in all age groups
“The 7-day incidence is only over 2,000 in the 5 to under 14-year-olds, with the values also falling significantly in this group. The incidence of the last seven days is lowest among those over 80 years of age at 290; in this age group the effect of the booster vaccinations is particularly noticeable, ”says Gernot Filipp.
Lots of refreshments, first vaccinations slow
