The municipality will pay two and a half billion crowns for this year’s repairs of Prague roads and bridges – ČT24 – Czech Television
According to Adam Scheinherr Square (Prague Sobě), one of the largest projects is the extension of Strakonická Street, where work began in March this year and is due to be completed next year. “It may seem like a simple structure, but almost three kilometers are on a separate body, because we are located on the river bank, so it is partly a bridge structure,” Scheinherr said.
This year, road workers also repaired the busy Wilson Street, which is part of the north-south highway. In addition to the road surface, they also reconstructed parts of the bridge at the main railway station. They also maintained Argentinská in Prague 7, where they repaired the tram line on Bubenské nábřeží or the engineering network at the same time as the road renewal.
Drivers still face complications due to repairs in Koněvova Street in Žižkov, where, among other things, trees have been added, sidewalks, parking spaces, public transport stops or water mains have been completely repaired. “More work has been concentrated again,” Scheinherr said.
Road workers worked in Horoměřický or Prosecká Street, where they reconstructed roads, water mains, sidewalks and built lines for trolleybuses. On the embankment of Edvard Beneš road a new surface, workers also got repaired tram line and widened lanes. Four crossroads were completed on Charles Square, and pedestrian crossings were also added. New crossings are also at the intersection of Legerova and Vinohradská streets and Vinohradská and U Vodárny.
He did not avoid bridges either. The road workers repaired the surface of the Hlávek Bridge in the direction from the center and now the Technical Administration of Roads (TSK) is working in the direction from Holešovice. “The tankodrom that used to be there is no longer there,” Scheinherr said.
TSK is also repairing the lower part of the Barrandov Bridge. Work on the top planned the report for next year. The new bridge leads across the railway in Prague 14, Za Černým mostem Street, and the bridges to Austis and Národní třída were reconstructed, which the road workers repaired completely, including the pillars. The transport company also exchanged tram tracks there.
In pedestrian transport and public transport, the reconstruction affected the stops and the line at IP Pavlova. Workers presented surfaces on some alluvium. In Radotín, they repaired and widened one of the backbone cycle paths marked A1. On the right bank, they extended the second backbone route A2 and built a bridge over the Robecký stream.
The opposition criticizes the municipality for the columns
“When we took over Prague at the end of 2018, it was in a catastrophic situation. There was a fallen Troja footbridge, people were not compensated for it, there were two emergency bridges and there was an internal debt of 30 billion on the transport infrastructure, “recalled the mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates). According to him, the transport infrastructure was not only neglected in the last election period, but also in those before.
However, the city leadership criticizes the opposition ODS and YES due to the large number of closures. According to them, their representatives are particularly bothered by the uncoordinated closing procedure. According to opposition officials, this creates columns in the city and traffic collapses in some places. The Civic Democrats also complained that the city and the TSK did not communicate well with the city districts about the deadlines. Scheinherr has long rejected criticism.
