The City of Dijon cancels its meal for seniors. A decision taken in view of the evolution of the health situation linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event was to be held on December 16 and 17 at the Palais des Congrès in Dijon.
“A responsible decision”
“It is a decision that we take reluctantly because the meal for the elders is always a moment of comfort and important for the elders” says Antoine Hoareau, deputy mayor in charge of social action and president of the communal action center. social. “But it is a responsible and reasonable decision with regard to the health context. “
Each year, around 3,000 people (twice 1,500) take part in the meal for the elderly, organized by the communal social action center. This is the second year in a row that the event has been canceled due to the health context.
Seniors cautious about the rise in the number of cases
“Usually, at this time of year, we manage the waiting list for diners,” says Antoine Hoareau. “There were still places available there. This clearly shows the reluctance that some have at the idea of finding themselves in a large space while the epidemic resumes, and we understand it. We do not want to take any risk for the health of our seniors ”.
People already registered for the meal will be contacted by phone. They can still pick up their chocolate bundle at the seniors’ house on December 16 and 17.
