16,322 tonnes of waste becomes € 8,161
Do you live in the metropolis of Lyon and you sort your papers in the respective bins? Without knowing, you participate in advancing research against myopathies.
Indeed, the Métropole de Lyon transforms each tonne of recycled paper into money. Fifty cents per 1,000 kilos, to be precise. With 16.322 tonnes harvested last year, this is therefore € 8.161 donated for the benefit of the Telethon 2021.
A dual objective
This commitment of the Metropolis aims to ” improve waste sorting and support a solidarity project“, She affirms by way of press release this Thursday, December 2:” this is part of the waste management strategy of the Metropolis as a means of raising awareness among residents about the sorting of household waste. “
Comment the Metropolis recycles paper?
Papers, newspapers, magazines, directories, catalogs … Anything that contains paper and that is separated from other waste is collected in sorting bins and then taken care of in specialized centers.
“Most of this material is submitted to the Norske-Skog factory located in Golbey (Vosges), the last French paper mill that manufactures paper for newspapers, magazines and reviews”, details the Métropole de Lyon.
Before specifying: “the recycling centers are also equipped to receive all the waste paper, magazines and books that cannot be donated. The materials sorted according to the standards defined by the papers will then go to French and European factories for the shaping of new books or journals “.
