“San Marino and Europe: the foundations for a fruitful collaboration have been laid”
The public meeting entitled “The future of Europe – Challenges and opportunities for the strategic relationship between Italy and San Marino”, staged yesterday at the Kursaal Congress Center, was unquestionably a success.
This was stated by Domani – Motus Liberi in a press release. “The heart of the Italian center-right is with TOMORROW – Motus Liberi, which had the merit organized by an event that lays the foundations for a future collaboration”: thus opening the Senator of Forza Italia, the Hon. Enrico Aimi, who led to the audience greetings from Hon. Annamaria Bernini. Indeed an important representation of the Italian center-right on the stage of the event organized by the Party, with the presence of the Hon. Raffaele Fitto, MEP of the Brothers of Italy and Co-President of the Group of European Conservatives and Reformists, who brought personal greetings from Hon. Giorgia Meloni, and the Hon. Lorenzo Fontana, Federal Deputy Secretary of the League and former Minister for European Affairs of the Italian Republic.
“A presence on stage – continues the statement from Domani Motus Liberi – which represents a much appreciated certificate of esteem which the President of the party, Lorenzo Forcellini Reffi, immediately accepted the invitation to collaborate expressed by all the forces present. In general, all guests agreed on the value of the European Union, its importance and central role. At the same time they recognized some important problems and how the Union needs to be reformed from within. From the Hon. For example, Aimi foundations about the world of work arrived: immediately the thought went to San Marino and what could be the impact of a possible or adhesion on this issue. Hence the importance of negotiating the agreement and its terms in the best possible way. Lorenzo Fontana also beat this point, “Thank you for this invitation: we will certainly be alongside San Marino, which must not lose its identity in the process of joining the EU”.
And identity was the main theme of the debate, moderated by journalist David Oddone. Hon. Raffaele Fitto provided some indications on what could be positive for Europe for San Marino, but at the same time he acknowledged his and his group’s will to “change the many things that are wrong”. The president of the Tatarella Foundation, Dr. Francesco Giubilei, also spoke on the value of identity, who beat Europe on the guidelines for communication included, which have created quite a few controversies in recent days: “Prohibiting the use of term Christmas, some Christian names and the expression ladies and gentlemen because it could be offensive is absurd. Politically correct spares nothing or anyone. Fortunately, through the intervention of the center-right, the withdrawal of this madness was announced ”.
The Secretary for Industry, Crafts and Commerce, Fabio Righi, immediately grasped the ideas launched by the previous interventions: “San Marino cannot and must not give up property, but it must represent an added value for Italy and for Europe . We have excellence in the area that we can make available. At the same time it becomes essential to think of an evolution of the relationship with Italy in a strategic key so that the path towards Europe is also aware of what could be the possible risks for our sovereignty “.
The party president, Lorenzo Forcellini Reffi, then pulled the strings of the debate and closed the proceedings, who accepted the invitation of the Italian center-right represented last night by the three most representative parties, launching the proposal to meet regularly in order to give concreteness to the offer of support: “We had an overview of the main critical issues through the testimony of high-level guests. I share the concern for the respect of identity and our roots, also because that of San Marino is a thousand-year history of freedom. I welcome the great willingness of the center-right to a confrontation and shared work with our party for what is a goal path to Europe that it certainly wants, but with a criterion of common sense ”. In many present among citizens and categories, both in the audience and connected by videoconference, who were able to touch what the benefits could be, but also the uncertainties deriving from the association process. A completely successful evening, which lays solid foundations for mutual political relations between San Marino and Italy.
