Prague has opened a new P + R in Černý Most with a capacity of almost 900 seats
On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, the P + R car park in Černý Most was ceremoniously opened. It is one of the largest car parks of this type in Prague and can accommodate up to 886 vehicles, including gas cars, electric cars or special cars for the disabled. In addition, there are public chargers for electric cars and parking for cyclists. The construction costs were approximately 500 million crowns and the first drivers can park here from today.
The construction of a new large-capacity P + R car park for 886 vehicles and other means of transport was completed in Černý Most in Prague 14. The parking house was built in the area of the P + R surface car park at Chlumecká Street and replaced the former parking space, but now it has three times the capacity. Drivers commuting to Prague will be able to park comfortably just a few minutes’ walk from the final station of route B Černý Most and within walking distance of the shopping center.
“Already in the program statement, the current Prague coalition has committed itself to investing in the development of P + R car parks. Today, we are opening a new parking house, which was built in record time and will provide parking for almost 900 drivers. This is another key project, which was also created thanks to money negotiated from European Union sources. I am looking forward to other similar steps that increase the comfort of Prague drivers, such as P + R in Petržílkova Street, “said the Mayor of the Capital City of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib.
Out of the total number of 886 seats, 89 seats are intended for gas cars, another 22 for the disabled and 18 seats for parents with children with a wider space for standing. Eight places will be used for charging electric cars and there are also 28 places for charging motorcycles. At the same time, cyclists will be able to store their bikes here in the lockable part, the total capacity for them is 38 seats.
“There are 886 new parking spaces for cars in Černý Most, which would otherwise have to continue into the city. This is one of Prague’s largest investments in P + R. The car park is just a few minutes’ walk from the Černý Most B metro station. Area and building P + R car parks are important transport structures within the city infrastructure. Every driver who parks on its outskirts on the way to Prague and continues by public transport travels to all of us for the better air we breathe in Prague. In Prague 14, we recently opened 101 stands in Chlumecká Street, 430 along Ocelkova, and this is another step in relieving not only the locals, but the whole of Prague. We are gradually working on projects of intercepting car parks and we will not finish until there are enough opportunities to park and change comfortably on public transport on the outskirts of Prague. That is why in a week we are starting to build a parking house in Nové Butovice, “described the Deputy Mayor of the capital. m of Prague for transport Adam Scheinherr.
The project of building a new P + R car park Černý Most III is co-financed from the Operational Program Prague – Pole of Growth (OPP PR) and the European Regional Development Fund. In total, the construction of the car park cost less than 500 million crowns without VAT, while the total subsidy from the European Union amounted to 291 million crowns.
“Although the construction was affected by the consequences of the first wave of the covid-19 pandemic, we completed it thanks to our experienced team and constructive cooperation with the client within 467 calendar days. We were hampered by extended deadlines for some facilities, quarantine of team members and also the lack of building materials that began to show this spring, “said Martin Frič from Metrostav’s Division 8 for the association of contractors formed by BAK stavební společnost, as and Metrostav as
The P + R car park itself is built of a monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton and has a total of four floors and four elevators. The built-up area is 7,457 m2 and the facade is made up of, among other things, suspended vegetation “troughs”.
“Prague 14 is one of the city districts that has long struggled with a lack of parking spaces. I am all the happier that this project has been completed, in addition, in a relatively short time. We are on the outskirts of Prague and we do not have established paid parking zones, which has its consequences – people commuting to the city for work, shopping and the like occupy places for residents. I believe that the new parking house will at least partially solve this problem, “added the Deputy Mayor of Prague 14, Petr Hukal, who is in charge of transport.
The car park itself will be open from 1 December 2021 and drivers will pay CZK 50 per day or CZK 100 per night for parking vehicles and motorcycles, with opening hours from 04:00 to 01:00, bicycle parking is free of charge. If you are interested in having your electric car charged, you will pay the amount according to the PRE price list. On the spot, people can pay in cash, by card or MPLA.
