MONTREAL-Grass Valley and Broadcast Solutions Group have entered into a $ 31 million deal under which the system integrator will invest the amount over five years in advancing its strategic vision to develop critical high-end live content solutions for global media companies.
Broadcast Solutions Group’s Nordic Team will establish a new competence center in Helsinki, based on Grass Valley’s Agile Media Procession Platform (AMPP). It will also build scalable, state-of-the-art live production solutions, Grass Valley said.
“Our customers are at the forefront of the most loved premium live content and rely on partnerships to ensure they have the best workflows available. The agreement strengthens our partnership with Grass Valley and supports our commitment to be the leading provider of media systems integration and services in the Nordic countries,” says Antti Laurila, CEO of Broadcast Solutions Nordic. “Both of our companies are trusted brands, and together we can help customers transition into the media and entertainment sector by combining old and future technology.”
The companies are also collaborating on a Grass Valley version of IP OB vans known as Streamline. The vehicles will support 12 to 24 cameras and will be completed in 2022. “Our global customer base will benefit greatly, both technically and financially, from the new Grass Valley IP Streamline OB vans,” said Stefan Breder, CEO of Broadcast Solutions Group. “By leveraging the expertise and knowledge of both companies in live content production, IP-based technologies and modern workflows, customers can be confident that they can rely on an OB van that meets and exceeds their requirements and needs.”
Over the past eight years, the two companies have worked closely together on several projects, including equipping Studio Berlin’s U9 and U10 trucks to store The Voice of Germany content, SportCast’s First and Second League Bundesliga matches, and political discussion programs.
