Euroleague (H / D13): Monaco and ASVEL beaten
Sales evening for French clubs. This Thursday evening, on the occasion of the 13th day of the men’s basketball Euroleague, Monaco and ASVEL were beaten, outside each time, respectively on the floor of Fenerbahce (96-86) and on that of Bayern (73-65). Monaco follows with a fourth defeat in a row in the competition, against the Turkish club, which however remained on five defeats in a row in this test and notably explained by the Frenchman Nando De Colo, who ends this meeting with statistics of 15 points and 4 assists. However, on the side of the Roca Team, which conceded no less than 33 points in the fourth and final quarter, flagship rookie Mike James was particularly in good shape, since he even ends up, and very largely, top scorer in this meeting, with a total of 31 points scored, his record with this club. Since mid-November, the Monegasques have still not managed to win their sixth game in this prestigious competition. As a result, the Principality’s club, chosen by Zvezdan Mitrovic, only occupies twelfth place in the standings and even moves further and further away from the famous and so important Top 8.
ASVEL will have to pull itself together
Same fight for the reigning French champion, who therefore surrendered in Germany, on the floor of Bayern (73-65). Once again, ASVEL had to deal with many absent, between the injured, namely Raymar Morgan or even David Lighty, or even the players who tested positive for the coronavirus, or Marcos Knight as well as Dylan Osetkowski. After three weeks of absence due to a broken finger, Victor Wembanyama, the great hope of French basketball, has made his comeback. But the prodigy had to be satisfied with only 14 short minutes of play, for a total of 5 points and 3 rebounds. For his part, top scorer in his training, Elie Okobo was obviously not enough, despite his 14 points, his 5 rebounds and his 5 assists. With this new defeat, the French club, whose president is only Tony Parker, is only ninth and therefore other out of the play-offs.
