Covid-19: rules and exceptions for those arriving in Portugal
The new rules for containing the pandemic at airports came into force this Wednesday: it is now mandatory to submit a negative test to covid-19 on arrival at Portuguese airports. Passengers who do not comply with the rule are penalized with fines, as well as the airlines where they travel. This Thursday morning, 24 passengers were fined at Lisbon airport.
O SEF inspected more than five thousand passengers who arrived at Lisbon airport, who came in 25 flights from countries outside space Schengen. Seven untested passengers were identified.
In all, 24 passengers were fined at Lisbon airport for not having had negative PCR or antigen tests, 17 of which were traveling from European Union countries. As fines vary between 300 and 800 euros and airlines are also penalized for each person in default.
At Porto airport, all passengers who arrived during the morning had negative tests with them..
But there are exceptions like this measure: those under 12 years old and the passengers of domestic flights you do not need to submit the negative test. Like people who recovered from covid-19 and have a valid recovery certificate are also exempt from submitting the test.
These new measures are in effect until January 9th.
