Chris Eubank Jr. left disappointed after Liam Williams retired
Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Williams will have to wait until 2022 to resolve his differences.
Chris Eubank Jr. was excited to take on Liam Williams on December 11th. The postponed match will now take place on January 29 after the Welshman was injured in training, but the delay in the action has irritated the Brighton fighter.
With both men struggling to remain relevant in the business end of the 160lbs division after previous failures to collect big titles there earlier in their careers, much is at stake in this brilliant match up. Despite the setback, Nisse Sauerland from Wasserman Boxing, the promoter of Eubank Jr., believes that the extra preparation time can do his fighter a lot of good.
“Chris was disappointed with the injury,” Sauerland said as he spoke Sky Sports. “The good thing is he does not have that much time to wait. He knows that. It gives him a little extra time with coach Roy Jones Jr. to prepare for the fight. A little extra sparring, trying some new things, and I think he will be even hungrier.
“It’s going to start the year right, and I think it’s going to be a brilliant fight. They’ll just go for it. Liam Williams said at the press conference, he’s going to hit and go against Chris, but I can not see. “It’s going to happen. It’s going to be a full-scale war and I do not see it going that far either.”
