ALL ANTWERP: “Each year around Christmas we make … (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Patrick Theuninck (48).
“I’ve been meeting all morning. Now I’m taking a break. Time for myself. I just bought two sandwiches. For my wife and myself. My wife has a pharmacy on Belgiëlei. We take a lunch break together.”
“I have been working from home since the start of the corona epidemic. I was only able to go back to the office in Brussels four times out of five. I do miss being together among colleagues. Fortunately, we hold a team meeting every morning at nine o’clock. Half an hour. Then we still have a little interaction with each other. Starting the day calmly in pajamas is therefore not an option, no. But I never do that anyway. With four children in the house you have to be ready quickly. The youngest is in sixth grade, the oldest is going to university. By eight I try to get all ready. That is not easy.”
“Do we have any special plans? Well, normally we’ve always met our family on a big trip around Christmas. Last year we couldn’t go to Namibia yet. We were one of the few guests at the time. The year before it was Australia. Now it remains to be seen what else will be allowed. My wife would absolutely love to go to Dubai, to the World’s Fair. I don’t know well myself. Our preoccupation is with the for his exams. I don’t know if it’s such a good idea to go far from home. So we’re not done yet. I especially want to go somewhere where the weather is nice.”
