Sugar Mizzy December 1, 2021

Haute-Savoie faces a “meteoric degradation” of the health situation. The incidence rate has increased by nearly 350% in two weeks, reaching 382 cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants as of Tuesday, November 30, indicates the prefecture. Haute-Savoie is to date the 15th department with the highest incidence in France.

“Every day, a person dies from Covid-19 in Haute-Savoie”, alerted the prefecture in a press release, adding that the number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 “also exploded”.

Faced with the resurgence of the epidemic, the authorities announced a series of new health measures on Tuesday. Among them, the return of the compulsory mask outdoors in 50 municipalities and winter sports resorts in the department: Annecy, Chamonix, Annemasse, Thonon-les-Bains or even Megeve – complete list at the end of the article.

In these municipalities, “Wearing a mask is compulsory from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m., for anyone eleven years of age and over (…) in areas where high traffic in public spaces does not allow obedience to barrier gestures and the rules of distancing physical”, let the prefecture know.

The sectors concerned remain to be determined; they will be defined locally by municipal decree. “Otherwise, wearing a mask will be compulsory over the entire area of the municipality located between the entry and exit signs”, adds the prefect.

In addition to the perimeter of these 50 municipalities, the mask will once again become compulsory during gatherings, meetings or activities. organized on public roads throughout the department. But also in all markets, flea markets, waiting files near stadiums, performance halls, restaurants or cultural establishments. All of these measures will remain in effect until January 4.

The prefecture of Haute-Savoie also calls “to the remobilization of all” facing the fifth epidemic wave, pointing “the looseness is observed in the yet respects simple barrier gestures “. “It is only by multiplying individual and collective efforts that we limit the circulation of the epidemic”, she argues.
