“The coach and my teammates have always supported me”
Author of his first but in Ligue 1 to guide the Red and Whites to a convincing victory against Angers (3-1), the Dutch striker was very happy after the meeting.
A real liberation! After registering his first but with AS Monaco in the Europa League against PSV a month ago (2-1 success), Myron Boadu unlocked his league counter on the SCO field (3-1 victory). Perfectly served by Kevin Volland, the number 9 of the Red and White did not hesitate to achieve a superb sequence. It was therefore with a smile on his face that he appeared before the media after the meeting. Extracts.
Good evening, Myron. Do you feel relieved to have put your first but in Ligue 1?
Yes of course, it’s always an important moment to score your first but in the league, so I’m very happy to have unlocked my counter in Ligue 1. I have often been close to registering it, but it is now chosen done. And I’m all the more happy that we won this match against Angers. I hope this is only the beginning, because we will have to continue to work hard, I am aware of that. This victory is very important to us. It is up to us to continue this momentum.

Did you just put more determination today?
Tonight we played as a team. Djibril spoke to us before the game, and we said things that gave us extra motivation. Today we wanted to show the true face of AS Monaco. Recently, we had done it, but not for an entire meeting. Whereas tonight it was for 90 minutes. Apart from the Angers goal, we had a great game. Personally, I wanted to show the best of myself. I was happy that the coach called on me. Angers are a good team, which were classified in 7th place before the game and are playing great football. I just wanted to give back the confidence that was given to me so I was determined to score and that’s what I did.
I am simply grateful. I just want to thank him. It is very important that a coach like him shows his confidence in me. For the rest, I didn’t really pay attention to what could be said about me.

Niko Kovac has always supported you. What would you like to say to him in return?
I am simply grateful. I just want to thank him. It is very important that a coach like him shows his confidence in me. For the rest, I didn’t really pay attention to what could be said about me. What matters to me is the support of the coach. When I’m on the pitch, it’s also for him that I play and to show my qualities and that I work hard.
When we played against PSV Eindhoven in the first leg (2-1 success), Aurélien Tchouameni came to see me and said: “Everyone knows your qualities in the locker room, so show everyone what you are capable in the field “.

What was important to you during the difficult time you went through?
When we played against PSV Eindhoven in the first leg (2-1 success), Aurélien Tchouameni came to see me and said: “Everyone knows your qualities in the locker room, so show everyone what you are capable in the field ”. This is a message that touched me, because it comes from a manager of the team, whom I respect a lot. I get along very well with each of them, and it’s very important for me to have their support. Tonight we have shown that we are a team.
1972 – Myron Boadu is the first Dutch player 🇳🇱 to score with Monaco in Ligue 1 since Ruud Suurendonk who also scored his only but in the top flight against Angers on January 9, 1972. Unusual. #SCOASM pic.twitter.com/3osqUdVzE0
