Slovenia introduces new rules for arrivals from South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe
STADecember 1 – Due to the spread of the Omicron coronavirus version, the government today ordered passengers arriving in Slovenia from seven South African countries to undergo three PCR tests during the mandatory 10-day quarantine.
In the last 14 days before Saturday’s entry into Slovenia, the government introduced mandatory self-isolation for people who have lived in South Africa, Botswana, Esvatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe for the past 14 days. Foreigners without residence in Slovenia who come from these countries are prohibited from entering.
The government has now introduced an additional rule that requires those who come to take a PCR test when entering Slovenia and repeat it on the 5th and 10th day after the order on self-isolation at home. They cannot terminate mandatory self-isolation prematurely regardless of the test result.
Those who have been in the country for 14 days before the new regulation comes into force must report to the emergency services at 113, and then they will be ordered to self-isolate at home for 10 days. The PCR test should be performed immediately after the call and on the last day of self-isolation.
The government also recommends that travelers from countries not on the list where Omicron is confirmed to take a quick test upon arrival in Slovenia.
