One of the great football figures of Bulgaria has died

The Bulgarian Football Union sadly announces that yesterday (November 30) one of the most prominent specialists and methodologists in the history of the game in our country – Prof. Dr. Angel Shishkov – left us.
He was born on February 25, 1944 in Bratsigovo. Between 1971 and 1981 he was an assistant professor in the Department of Football and Tennis at the Higher Institute of Physical Education and Sports (now the National Sports Academy). Between 1984 and 1993 he was the head of the department.
Between 1971 and 1975 he was vice-president of SFD “Academic” and president of FC “Academic”. In the period 1976-1979 he founded and managed the specialized scientific-applied laboratory of football at BSFS.
In 1992 he received a professorship, a longtime member of the Academic Council and the Scientific Council of the NSA.
Prof. Dr. Shishkov is one of the specialists with the greatest contribution to the development of coaching education in our country. He managed the Football Coaching School for 14 years (between 1993 and 2007) and thanks to the exceptional expert team the most modern methodology in the education and training of coaching staff in Bulgaria was adapted according to the requirements of the European and World Football Headquarters.
Since 1979 he has been a lecturer at the coaching panel at UEFA and FIFA. Long-term member of the Executive Committee and vice-president of the Bulgarian Football Union (1979-1988).
