Near Toulouse, a new vaccination center has just opened
A vaccination center managed by the firefighters has just opened its doors in Colomiers. For the moment, the priority is to vaccinate the over 65s.
“I am relieved to have my 3rd dose. I get vaccinated first for myself but also for others. I also had my flu shot a month ago, ”says Dominique, 67, this Wednesday morning.
“I prefer to be vaccinated. It is a story of risky profit and then with this variant about which we do not know much, we are a little worried, ”says Yasmina for his part.
Dominique and she are among the first patients to have received their 3rd dose in the new vaccination center in Colomiers, 10 kilometers north of Toulouse.
Last Tuesday, the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service opened this center in a gymnasium. On the first day of its opening, the structure, assembled within 48 hours, accommodated 241 people. It should accommodate 500 per day from next week. Aimed primarily at people over 65, the center will accommodate other populations.
“We have announced an increase in the vaccine offer in practices, pharmacies, but also vaccination centers. The challenge is to vaccinate all over 65s so that they are in the nails ”, mentioned the prefect Étienne Guyot visiting the vaccination center this Wednesday morning. As a reminder, as of December 15, people over the age of 65 will have made their reminder so that their health pass remains valid.
“Vaccination is the only rational response to this pandemic. The Department has not closed its centers in Montastruc and Villefranche, and may need a fourth center, ”for his part underlined Georges Méric, the president of the departmental council.
76% of the inhabitants of Haute-Garonne fully vaccinated
“The center is managed by the fire brigade. Several of them have been trained in injection, but the preparation of the doses remains in the hands of the nurses ”, specifies the colonel and chief pharmacist Thierry Lacombe. In Haute-Garonne, Thierry Cardouat, director of the departmental delegation of the ARS, specifies that 86% of inhabitants have had their first dose, and 76% have a complete vaccination schedule.
Other vaccination centers should open in the coming days, especially hall 8. “We are working hard to complete the offer. As the number of cases increases in hospitals, we are monitoring this trend, we are in a race against time. “
As with other vaccination centers, appointments are made online on the site KelDoc.
