Monaco is recovering in the direction of travel
Brilliantly qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League from the 5th group match, the Monegasques walked in slow motion in the championship, with only three goals and three points in their last four games (one loss, three draws).
Three goals against the Angevins made it possible to obtain a rather well-deserved victory, as Monaco sparked the debates. Not necessarily in possession of the ball, voluntarily left to Angers, but clearly on occasions.
With this success, Niko Kovac’s men temporarily go back to 7th place, overtaking their evening opponents.
At the heart of a first prolific period, a key man has emerged: Kevin Volland. Not really successful this season, less efficient than last year, the German international delivered two assists.
The first, exquisite, for Myron Boadu, a deflection in one touch, at the entrance to the area, which took the entire Angevin defense in reverse and allowed the Dutchman to score his first goal in L1 (1-0, 25th). The second, from a cross on the line that Boadu skilfully let pass for Sofiane Diop (2-0, 45th + 1).
Not sure of their doing after the break, the Monegasques left Angers to hope, especially when Azzedine Ounahi reduced the score with the help of goalkeeper Alexander Nübel (2-1, 55th). But the German goalkeeper redeemed himself with an incredible reflex stop on a point blank header from Angelo Fulgini (67th).
A little after, Axel Disasi, alone at the far post on a free kick from Aleksandr Golovine, a closed the mark (3-1, 73rd). Danijel Petkovic, the Angevin goalkeeper, then prohibited a heavier score by winning his duel against Wissam Ben Yedder, who entered five minutes earlier (84th).
