Latest Curacao online gaming company banned in Sweden
Disturb entertainment, an online gaming provider based in Curacao, has been banned by The Gaming Inspectorate, Gambling Inspectorate.
In the latest ruling against operators based in the Dutch city, the Swedish authority initially initiated a supervisory case against Disrupt Entertainment after becoming suspicious that the company delivered services in the country without a license.
According to the terms of the country’s gaming law, Swedish gaming authorities claim that if a company provides information and conditions for participation in Swedish, it can be considered to be aimed at the national market and its consumers.
Disrupt Entertainment has a gaming license on Curacao, but has none in Sweden. After completing its investigation, the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate has determined that the company was unlawfully targeting Swedish customers.
The Inspectorate reported that Disrupt Entertainment had provided information in Swedish and conditions for game participation in Swedish on its website Casinos trademark.
The Swedish Gaming Inspectorate assesses that Disruptive Entertainment Limited NV provides games in Sweden because the company on the website casinosinners.com has information in Swedish and that the company has the conditions for participating in the game in Swedish, the inspectorate explains.
“The Waste Inspectorate considers, with regard to consumer protection and to guarantee gaming safety, that it is important that the decision is complied with immediately. The decision must therefore apply immediately. “
As part of a broader Swedish strategy against operators in the black market, the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate can directly cooperate with the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (FCA) and the Swedish Consumer Agency to strengthen its enforcement capacity.
The development last week saw the three authorities cooperate in introducing payment orders and IP bans on the network properties of 23 Curacao-based operators, after the inspectorate informed its counterparts that the sites in question were illegally providing their services in Sweden.
Sweden’s legislators and government are currently developing the key criteria for the stage 2 changes to their gaming law.
The Swedish Gaming Inspectorate has continued to largely support reforms of the country’s gaming legislation, and has adhered to the recommendations of the country’s Ministry of Finance, which would enforce a watershed for casino advertising.
