Lando Norris announces he is moving to Monaco
McLaren’s Lando Norris has announced he is moving from England to Monaco, with financial reasons playing a role in his decision. The 22-year-old Briton has had an exceptional season with his Woking-based side and signed a multi-year contract extension in May.

“This is something that obviously a lot of pilots are doing,” he told British media of the decision. “Above all, with the way the race is, we have seen for other drivers how quickly things can go downhill as well. I still have to take care of my life and things for my future.
Monaco is home to many of its Formula 1 rivals, including compatriot and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton as well as Australian McLaren teammate Daniel Ricciardo.
Hamilton was accepted for his tax arrangements and Norris, already a fan favorite, is also expected to face a backlash.
“But people do a lot of things in life for money. It’s just another one, ”he said.
Norris entered Formula 1 in 2019 and has been on the podium four times this season, and is fifth overall with two races to go.
The youngest British Formula 1 driver in the history of the sport, he lived close to the McLaren factory to learn as much as possible and enjoy the local golf courses.
He said in April that he wanted to have fun with friends and see his family regularly, saying “I don’t want to do my job in Formula 1 and not enjoy the things around him”.
The time had now come, however, to move away, even though he would still be spending a lot of time at the factory.
“I have said many times that for me, having fun and having fun, and enjoying what I do, comes first… so it’s not an easy decision,” he said.
“I just feel like I’m in a comfortable place to make this decision. “
