Kerala nurse takes her life when the prospects of coming to her new job in Sweden are saved- The New Indian Express
KOTTAYAM: Fear unleashed by the new Covid-19 variant Omicron forced a 27-year-old nurse in the Kottayam district of Kerala to take her own life as her plans to fly to Sweden, where she got a job, were tossed into uncertainty after travel bans and restrictions imposed by several countries, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Nimmy from Manimala Vazhoor East Aanakuthi.
Nimmy has worked as a nurse at a hospital in Karnataka. She recently got a job as a nurse in Sweden. She eagerly made arrangements for her upcoming trip when cases of the new Covid variant broke out in Botswana and other parts of the world.
With several countries introducing travel bans and restrictions in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus, Nimmy found that her travel plans to Sweden disappeared. Some reports said that her husband Roshan had also lost his job recently. Therefore, the couple relied on Nimmy’s new job to sustain their life.
Against this background, Nimmy was found dead, by hanging, at his in-laws’ home on the night of November 28th. She was rushed to a private hospital but pronounced dead at the scene.
Nimmy’s father Prakashan has in his complaint to the police claimed that there were no problems for Nimmy with her in-laws. Even a day before her death, Prakashan had visited Roshan’s house and stayed there one night before returning.
Manimala police said Nimmy’s mother Mariamma works in Israel and that the family is waiting for her arrival to conduct the funeral service.
