Because of the corona situation, hospitals in Frankfurt hardly let in visitors. Where do you apply which measures?
Frankfurt – The corona situation is coming to a head. Visits to hospitals are currently no longer possible everywhere. Seniors’ facilities are even more liberal, for example the Hufeland House, where tested visitors are welcome. Not so in the Frankfurt hospitals. “My daughter has been in the hospital since Thursday,” reports a father from Frankfurter Berg. “The pediatrician had to make a long phone call before we had a place at the Höchst Clinic.” At the door, his wife, who was taking her dying daughter to the hospital, was told that there were only two options: to go in and stay inside, with her own bed in the hospital room. Or stay outside and leave the child alone. In, out, every day, that is no longer possible in many hospitals. “Now we just exchange the bags with fresh or used laundry at the door. I haven’t seen my daughter for a week,” says the father regretfully.
The Höchst Clinic is no exception. Many Frankfurt, many Hessian hospitals do this. A relative, whose husband (82) is in Bad Soden in the Main-Taunus-Kliniken and who has been operated on, says: “I can only talk to him on the phone, and the nurses and him help to push the right button with these modern ones Apparatus that also control television reception and everything else. ” A visit is only possible with palliative patients and with patients “for whom the doctors and nurses consider a visit to be absolutely necessary,” says the website of Varisano, the clinic network to which the Höchst Hospital also belongs. The relatives from Bad Soden found out that it is imperative that visits are only “preterminal” to patients, i.e. when they are dying. Even then, the ward or the treating doctor still has to give their consent.
Corona measures in Frankfurt clinics: Patients are not allowed to receive visitors
“You should be able to make an exception for people with dementia,” demands the Bad Sodenerin. The father from Frankfurter Berg would like exceptions for children and adolescents who are dying in hospital: “They often don’t even understand what is happening.”
“This ban on visits, which is unfortunately now necessary, serves to protect our patients and our staff,” explained Martin Menger, managing director of the Varisano clinics. “It is always possible to be accompanied during the birth,” added clinic spokeswoman Petra Fleischer. In addition: “Everyone quickly shows great understanding – with a view to the current corona dynamics and the associated risks.”
The university clinic also no longer allows visits. The following procedure is described on the website for exceptions after medical approval: The visitors tubs when in the past 24 hours have taken a free citizen test in a test center that was negative or a PCR test that was not more than 48 hours ago. You have to register individually to visit a patient using the visitor code in the visit system: kgu.besuchssystem.de. The attending doctors also have the visitor code.
Hospitals in Frankfurt enforce visitor restrictions: exceptions only after corona test
In the Elisabethen Hospital in Frankfurt, visits are “unfortunately no longer possible at the moment due to the current pandemic development,” it says briefly on their website. The following applies to the Accident Clinic of the Accident Insurance Association: “Therefore, visits can only be permitted as an exception in urgent cases (e.g. seriously ill patients, need to be present due to dementia, lawyers and notaries) ethical-social reasons or reasons that are considered necessary for the healing process are urgently required. ” The prerequisite for visitors here is a 2G certificate.
The Sachsenhausen hospital has put an “absolute visit freeze” into effect. Exceptions are only possible for visitors who can show a current test in addition to a 2G certificate. The Agaplesion Bethanien Hospital in Seckbach, like the Markus Hospital, which is part of the same association, only allows visits in special exceptional cases with medical approval under 2Gplus conditions.
Frankfurt: Different corona measures in hospitals
The Northwest Hospital is more liberal. There is not yet a general ban on visitors, but there is a 2G obligation, which is checked at the reception. In addition, as in all hospitals, a mask must be worn and held. According to a clinic spokeswoman, the house is currently considering tightening the regulation. According to the network, the Bürgerhospital also offers more freedom. On normal wards, a patient can be visited by one person for one hour per day. The visitors need an up-to-date test for this.
According to the website, two visitors per patient are allowed in the Clementine Children’s Hospital, siblings only with a vaccination. The Hospital of the Holy Spirit allows hospital visits – but only for those who have been vaccinated or recovered (2G). (Thomas J. Schmidt)
The pandemic also causes other problems: The clinics in Frankfurt are completely overloaded due to Corona.
