Denmark introduces entry ban for ten African countries
The case is being updated.
– We have pulled the emergency brake for ten African countries, says Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at a press conference on Wednesday.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advises against travel to the ten countries. So far, this has been confirmed in seven cases of the omicron variant in Denmark. The variant was discovered in South Africa last week.
The government will not introduce any new measures in Denmark on Wednesday, but the Prime Minister will strongly urge the population to take a third dose of vaccine.
– I would very, very strongly encourage the elderly to accept the offer to take a third dose of the coronary vaccine. Taking the third is one of the most important things you can do now, said Frederiksen.
She wants the rest of the adult population in Denmark to be offered a third dose during the coming month. Frederiksen says that it is the decision in the municipalities and the region’s capacities that no one must wait to get the vaccine.
“Everyone who is offered a third vaccine sting must have time for it within a week in their region,” she promised.
– Right now we have an open society. We must do everything we can to preserve it, for the sake of business and culture.
