Covid-19: Porto will have free trials in “crucial areas” and Lisbon will open four testing centers – News
The 100,000 antigen testicles that the Porto City Council will make available to the citizens of the city by December 31 is available “within two or three days”, revealed Rui Moreira today.
The statement by the president of the municipality took place on the sidelines at the inauguration of the Christmas lighting, which took place at the Palácio de Cristal.
According to independent Rui Moreira, the 100,000 tests “will be in accordance with the crucial areas of the city so that people can take free tests (…), thus contributing to economic activities, namely bars, clubs and also the football, can work as normal as possible”.
“I believe that within two or three days the beneficiaries will be ready”, said the mayor about this investment by the chamber of “one million euros”, as reported in the document that Lusa had access to in the early afternoon.
Rui Moreira continued to make “contacts with the laboratories that provide this type of service and also with the Red Cross” in order to set up “a large-scale logistical operation”, as well as to understand “how many centers” for testing it will be necessary to create.
The mayor recalled that these are “antigen testicles that will allow people, in the next 48 hours, to move around susceptible and go to places where it is required. And that includes, of course, tourists”.
“I was careful to talk to the minister today [da Saúde, Marta Temido] that she was very satisfied with the solution we found”, she revealed.
Also the City Council of Lisbon announced this Wednesday that it will open four Covid-19 testing centers close to nightlife venues, in Cais do Sodré, Largo de Camões, Príncipe Real and Santos, operating between Thursdays. Thursday and Sunday, announced an AHRESP.
“We congratulate Lisbon City Council, which agreed to provide testing centers close to the usual nightlife venues. Four testing centers will be made available, from Thursday to Sunday, from 20:00 to 02:00 in the following locations: Cais do Sodré, Largo de Camões, Príncipe Real and Santos”, reads a note channeled to Lusa.
As highlighted by the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Services of Portugal (AHRESP), the Cais do Sodré center is already in operation and the rest will start operating by the end of the week.
AHRESP has been in contact with local authorities so that they can be attended to, which facilitate access to night entertainment spaces.
The prime minister announced on Thursday that entry into the night entertainment venues will be subject to a negative test for covid-19, even for those vaccinated, from December 1st, clubs and bars closed between January 2nd and 9th.
