The students sent a pre-litigation summons to Masaryk University due to pressure to vaccinate
Fulfillment of the obligation is a condition of participation in full-time teaching. Lawyer Zuzana Candigliota informs about the pre-litigation summons.
Students of the Faculty of Medicine, Philosophy and Education also addressed the Rector Martin Bareš and their deans through a call. He considers the procedure of the university and the faculty to be clearly illegal.
“Vaccination against covid-19 is voluntary and any coercion against it is contrary to the right to free and informed consent, the right to respect for human dignity, the right to the integrity of the person and also the right to freedom of thought and conscience,” in a call which also mentions “discrimination and segregation” of the unvaccinated.

Through pre-litigation calls, students request that the university management cancel the benefits of vaccinated students within three days of delivery. It also explains the legal basis on which it requires students to receive information about vaccinations. “In the event that the illegal situation is not eliminated, an action will be filed in court with a motion to issue a preliminary injunction, as well as suggestions to the relevant state control authorities,” the writers conclude the summons.
The management of Masaryk University has long advocated vaccination, which it considers to be practically the only way out of pandemic restrictions. Vaccination is available to students directly on the university premises. “Our students are vaccinated because, among other things, they come into contact with sick patients during educational activities. From this point of view, we recommend vaccinations at the Faculty of Medicine,” said the dean of the faculty, Martin Repko.
The operation of the university is governed by a so-called traffic light. It is now in the yellow, the second highest level. Lectures with over 150 people are held remotely or hybridly. The deans decide on the obligation of students to prove themselves by attending a preventive teaching by vaccination, illness or test. It is necessary to ensure distance access to education for students who do not meet the conditions.

Bareš reminded that the university gradually took a number of preventive measures in order to minimize the risk of infection and at the same time ensure students the right to education. “The university offers professional help to students who are afraid of vaccinations or testing. Teaching at Masaryk University takes place in a full-time manner, despite the critical epidemic situation in the Czech Republic,” said Bareš.
At Mendel University, similar measures, which condition participation in preventive teaching by vaccination or testing, do not apply. “On the contrary, equal access to education applies because we did not want to discriminate against anyone. Students must wear a respirator for all of them, a measure we introduced a few weeks ago. Nerudová.
