It was not ours to threaten any controversy, but what we read in the newspapers regarding the statements of the Secretary Pedini may remain unanswered, given that probably, the little attention to which our requests are asked for letters, as well as a disarming little knowledge of the activity. that we carry out.
1 – ours is a request for help that does not intend to be a pole, so we do not understand why the secretary Pedini feels attacked in him due to, or even just drawn into, given the lack of relevance of our request to the tourism department who presides. Ours is a request that has nothing to do with tourism, but made by entrepreneurs who believed in the San Marino country system, who have invested and who have always paid taxes, creating a great job in full compliance with the rules. A production sector of great value was created from scratch, capable of competing internationally at the highest levels, with an image envied by competitors from neighboring Italy. Now, while these competitors are widely protected, the government’s choices are leaving this sector to its fate. But at this point, if this happens, the current political class will risk its responsibility, that of having let a national excellence die, an entire sector with fifty years of history, in full health before the pandemic and ready to return fully to form as soon as possible. The signs, in this sense, are unequivocal, there will be a restart for our sector, or at least for those who will still be on the market.
2 – The CIG is undoubtedly a social safety net that was fundamental for the protection of employees, but what we are contesting is that nothing has been done for the survival of the companies; a very useful measure to avoid unfortunate collective redundancies, which however will become inevitable if the current attitude is maintained, making sterile even the investment already made by the state coffers and taxpayers, including us and our own employees, entire families who today risk their jobs, in the absence of a decisive intervention.
3 – Some of our companies have lost, during the tax closures, large sums, up to several million euros, indicate an intervention, maximum, of 50,000 euros, as a point in favor of government actions says a lot about the policies on harvest in the field. But not even that figure was in fact guaranteed to us: to the 30,000.00 Euros actually allocated as a grant, as refreshment for the entire year 2020 to block activities, laughable discounts on the license fee and a minimum reduction on contributions were added. social security and bills; completely insufficient measures even to give a minimum of respite to the expenses that still run, among other things given only on June 3, 2021, after a good fifteen (15) months from the beginning of the pandemic !! Now the secretary Pedini defended himself by promising another € 20,000.00, an intervention announced in the transmission Viceversa, which however, after the amendments, made together with the other members of the government, apparently will be recognized as TAX CREDIT, not as refreshments. An intervention that would be, in addition to being miserable and belated, at this point also practically useless, being usable only when the crisis is overcome, for those who will have survived.
5 – We continue to talk about selling San Marino as a destination, proving once again that we do not know what the activities of the companies we represent are. Our Companies that deal with destinations all over the world and that give San Marino, in proportion, the right emphasis with respect to the demand that this destination is able to generate. Bringing up the San Marino destination is a clumsy attempt to divert attention from the core of the question, trying once again to give our sector, which should be protected as a generator of wealth, for the State and its citizens, thanks to the turnover they produce and the work they guarantee, a responsibility towards territorial promotion policies; activities for which, among other things, our companies are not conducted in any way and which therefore we do not understand why the lack is contested. We ask to save a production sector, to discuss how to do tourism and promotion-marketing of the territory we are available, but we will have to choose a different context. We would like to comment on the numbers quoted by the secretary, depending on the amount of taxes paid by the sector, a quote that we really do not understand what it was aimed at … our industrial sector, this is it, functions with low operating percentages, dealing with intermediation of services, the numbers of the turnover as well as the revenues from the taxes paid are those of the public budgets, so we do not understand exactly what can clarify in this regard that is not clear and transparent. To close, we would like to reflect: instead of receiving help and support, we are forced to answer questions and irrelevant and senseless questions. Our sector has been at a standstill for over 20 months, with turnover dropped by more than 90%, losses far higher than any other production category, losses far higher than any other production category, functions of blocks and closures imposed by politics, chosen and understandable, but that had to be followed by adequate interventions to support the losses, as has happened in every civilized country. Our will to continue is great, but when we have a loss of € 300,000.00 in budget for 2020 and the same for 2021, and we feel we are proposing, to tackle the pandemic, an intervention that should be of support equal to € 30,000.00, with the addition of € 20,000.00 of tax credit, which if all goes well we will discount in 3 years, heralded as if the interventions were made in profusion, then really the wills fail.
I would like to clarify that after this we will not make further replies, so as not to fuel controversy we will not try. We do not do politics we represent a sector of excellence in San Marino, recognized in Italy as in the whole world of tourism. We remember that it is precisely in these moments, of extreme and sudden difficulty, that the strength of a state can be seen, and if a company, which has always been healthy, is forced to close a situation like this, after having spent and struggled to remain in feet, and not for their own demerits, in our opinion that this represents a FAILURE of the State, of its own policies and future prospects, as well as immediate damage to its citizens. Companies, the work of a lifetime, if forced to ours, or even to fail, will leave their employees as a dowry to the State with a buffer of 18 months of mobility, before being able to relocate perhaps abroad, where they will find a maintained sector thriving from another state. We entrepreneurs will not consider anything, only the desperation of having to close, not through our fault but due to a hurricane called Covid-19 and a lack of support policies that should be
We close by greeting the Secretary Pedini to whom we ask only one question: is the political will of this government to save this sector or to let it go? We look forward to your response and that of the Government. Thanks for your cooperation
