The capital city of Prague, in cooperation with the Prague Innovation Institute (Pii), is announcing the Assistance Vouchers subsidy program. Its aim is to support the development and preparation of research, development and innovation projects. Any research institution, university or company based in the metropolis can apply. A total of CZK 12 million has been prepared for the Assistance Voucher. Prague councilors decided on Monday.
“The vouchers will support the preparation of Czech and international strategic projects and promising ideas in the field of research, development and innovation, which will have long-term benefits for the capital. Each research institution, university or company based in the metropolis can receive up to almost one million crowns. I believe that there will be interest in these vouchers, “says the mayor of hl. m Prague Zdeněk Hřib. Next year, the Assistance Vouchers will be followed by a grant program of the City of Prague. m of Prague in the amount of 20 million crowns, which supports the direct implementation of projects in the field of research, development and innovation.
Receipt of applications for Assistance Vouchers begins on December 31, 2021 and will last until the end of May next year, when it is possible to obtain up to ninety percent support within one voucher. Thus, one project can go from 100 thousand to 900 thousand crowns, while the co-participation of applicants is necessary, in the amount of ten percent.
The aim of the Assistance Vouchers program is to support the preparation and processing of project documentation, which can obtain funding for its implementation from national, international, local budgets or from the applicant’s own resources in the field of research, development and innovation. The money raised should help the authors of selected projects to complete their preparation so that they can further present to potential investors who would be willing to invest in them, and thus ensure the future and implementation. The quality of the project will decide.
“As part of this year’s mapping of the city’s innovation environment, the Prague Innovation Institute has found that startup projects often lack the capacity for further project development. There are plenty of possibilities in the system, but paradoxically there are few well-prepared projects. At the same time, most actors across the innovation ecosystem need more help with project preparation at an early stage. Through these vouchers, Prague wants to support promising innovative ideas that will have a key impact on the development of the capital, ”says Vít Šimral, Councilor for Business Support.
“This type of program does not aim to create a specific good or service, but to support what has long been underestimated in the Czech environment – and that is preparation. It aims to distribute financial resources to the system, small money that triggers a big avalanche. We want to ensure that the projects under consideration are prepared as well as possible, ”adds Tomáš Lapáček, Prague’s innovation manager.
The subsidy support is announced by Prague within the three-year project Prague Smart Accelerator (PSA), the Operational Program Research, Development and Education (OP RDE) and the City of Prague contribute financially to it. of the city of Prague. The submitted projects should take into account the objectives of the Prague Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS3). The so-called Assistance Vouchers are 85 percent paid for by the European OP RDE and the capital city of Prague contributes a 15% share.
