March for vaccine justice through Brussels
About 150 supporters of various civil society organizations that are grouped in the citizens’ initiative No Profit On Pandemic held a march for vaccine justice in Brussels on Tuesday evening. They walked from the European Parliament in Brussels to the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations with some coffins.
The death rate symbolizes the number of deaths from Covid-19 that could be released if the patents and treatments were implemented.
The Commission’s advocacy group has refused to grant intellectual property rights of pharmaceutical companies to corona vaccines and treatments. randomly, only 5 percent of all vaccines have gone to low-income countries, states No Profit On Pandemic. They complain that the farm companies are making such a big profit, despite the public contribution to the development of the vaccine.
“If our policymakers really develop, they will take responsibility and ensure easy access to Covid-19 vaccines,” No Profit On Pandemic said.
The protest march is also dominated by November 30. On that day, world leaders will gather in Geneva during a ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organization. There, the debate around India and South Africa’s proposal to temporarily lift all Covid-19-related intellectual property rights is likely to come to an end.
