The Italian opera star will be on Friday December 3 at the Opera auditorium. A concert which should have taken place in Amsterdam and which had to be canceled there due to the health crisis
It is a bit like the Christmas present from the Opéra de Bordeaux, even if it is due to the health crisis. Cecilia Bartoli, one of the current stars of the lyric, will be this Friday December 3 in the auditorium. A postponement, in fact, of the recital initially programmed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and canceled while the Netherlands, hard hit by the Omicron variant, hardens the anti-Covid measures: very supervised family reunions, teleworking recommended… and a curfew prohibiting evening shows.

Especially since the single price of 60 euros is much lower than what is usually practiced for the Italian soprano (in Amsterdam the prices ranged from 61 to 162 euros). “Great efforts have been made to ensure that this evening takes place”, underlines Olivier Lombardie, general administrator of the Opéra de Bordeaux.
Sharing her career between bel canto (Rossini, Bellini …) and baroque (Vivaldi, Scarlatti …), Cecilia Bartoli has been applauded for more than 30 years for her charisma and virtuosity, her ability to produce impeccable vocalizations on the highest tempos . In Bordeaux she will be associated with the countertenor Carlo Vistoli, a figure of baroque music, with whom she will sing Pergolesi’s “Stabat mater”, “an absolute masterpiece,” she says, the cry of the Virgin Mary assisting at the crucifixion of his son. The sung parts respond to it, but also dialogue with the strings, whose vibrations are comparable to those of human voices. “
The rest of the program includes two baroque “hits”, taken from Vivaldi’s “Gloria in D major” and Handel’s “Ode pour la Saint-Cécile”. All accompanied by period instruments, with gut strings. A great moment, not to be missed. As long as there is …
